Interfaith Seminar at Intercultural Cities Conference
On Friday 8th February, experts and elected officials from across Europe will join members of Dublin City Interfaith Forum at a seminar highlighting the positive contribution of faith communities towards integration and social cohesion.
The seminar, will conclude the 3 day Intercultural Cities Conference, a landmark of the Irish EU Presidency and the Andorran Council of Europe Chairmanship, which examined how the intercultural cities initiative, developed by the Council of Europe and the European Union, are working in practice.
The intercultural cities programme, which offers a “comprehensive methodology” for helping cities develop diversity strategies and provides a range of analytical tools, has been adopted by more than 60 cities in Europe and has also found support in japan, Korea, Mexico and Canada.
DCIF’s interfaith seminar is part of the Intercultural Cities Conference field visits and will aim to showcase the forum’s work so far, highlighting some of projects delivered since its launch in January 2012 and will also seek to engage with the participants in discussions on the possibility of using interfaith action as an avenue to promote integration and social cohesion.
